Management Contract

The management contract between the VRT and the Flemish government is made every five years by way of negotiations and talks between both parties. The stipulations regarding the content, time frame, reporting, and possible amendments or extensions of the contract are laid down in a decree.

The management contract stipulates:

  • The measurable objectives relating to the radio- and television services (reach and appreciation).
  • The objectives relating to new media projects.
  • The objectives relating to staff policy, financial policy, technology and transmission.
  • The calculation of the financial envelope.

The VRT must submit an annual report to the Flemish government before 1st June, on the degree to which performance criteria have been met. The VRT does this in its annual report, which is also available to the public. A management delegate gives an elucidation of this before the Flemish Parliament.
