More international development aid

Last year Belgium spent 1.65 billion on international development. The figure comes from the international development organisation 11-11-11.
The figure corresponds to 0.47% of Belgian national output and is higher than the amount spent on international development in 2007.
Earlier Belgium promised to reach the international norm of 0.7% of national output in 2010.

11-11-11 is pleased with last year's increase, but the international development organisation claims that the Federal Government's international development policy does not display enough cohesion.

The organisation believes that foreign trade and defence policy should also take account of the interests of the world's poorest nations.
