Flemish financial daily goes pink

The financial daily ‘De Tijd’ appeared on pink paper for the first time on Saturday. The papers’ website has also undergone a colour change, as has Belgium’s Francophone financial daily ‘L’Echo’.
Many other financial dailies across Europe, such as the UK’s Financial Times and the Netherlands’ ‘Het Financieele Dagblad’ have used pink newsprint for many years.

De Tijd’s editor Pierre Huylenbroeck told the VRT that pink newsprint is internationally recognised as a symbol of top quality journalism in the fields of economic, financial, social and political reporting.

Referring to Saturday’s bumper edition of the paper, Mr Huylenbroeck added that “We want to offer value for money."

"We've not only changed colour, but we're also a whopper of a business paper.”
