Club Brugge finish third

Club Brugge’s 4-1 win against Excelsior Mouscron and AA Gent’s defeat at the hands of Standard sees the West Flemings end the season third in the Belgian First Division. The third spot assure them of a place in the second qualifying round for next season’s Europa League that replaces the UEFA Cup.
Mouscron started the match strongly and will have been disappointed to have gone one down through a Dira (photo) goal on 19 minutes.

However, the visitors drew level on the half hour with a well-taken strike by the defender Haghedooren.
Mouscron’s joy was short-lived though as Dahmane put Club Brugge 2-1 up just a minute later.

An Akpala goal two minutes before half time made it 3-1 to Club.

The final nail in Mouscron’s coffin came on 56 minutes with a goal from Club Brugge’s Simaeys.

The score remained 4-1 and provided a fine end to an often disappointing season for the Club Brugge fans.

Dender and Roeselare in the play-offs

Dender’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sporting Charleroi on Saturday evening means that they join Roeselare and second division RFC Antwerp and Lierse SK in the play-offs for a place in next season’s first division.

Sporting Charleroi had nothing to play for but their honour.

Nevertheless, the Zebras gave it their best shot. Charleroi took the lead on 38 minutes through Cyril Théréau.

Dender went two down eight minutes from time when Hebib Habibou scored for Charleroi.
A Bart Van den Eede goal on 89 minutes was too little, too late for the East Flemings.

Kortrijk’s 3-1 win at Westerlo sees Dender end the season fourth from bottom.

Charleroi is twelfth.

Despite having led for over half an hour, Ouattra’s 40th minute goal was not enough to give Roeselare victory in the West Flemish derby against Cercle Brugge.

A 78th minute goal by Boi and a Gombami strike a minute from time ensured that Cercle ends the season on a high.

Wins for Kortijk, Zulte Waregem and Tubize

KV Kortrijk is now 100% certain of First Division football next season after a 3-1 win away at Westerlo.

Kortrijk took the lead on 27 minutes through Jimmy Hempte.
Ruiz equalised for Westerlo on 59 minutes only for Barbosa to restore Kortrijk’s lead just a minute later.

A 67th minute goal by Kouyaté widened Kortrijk’s victory margin.

Tubize treated their fans to a 1-0 win against Germinal Beerschot in what was the Walloon Brabant side's last game in the top flight.

Tubize’s goal came from Vittorio Villano on 75 minutes.

Two goals by Kevin Roelandts (on 20 and 72 minutes, photo)) and an 89th minute goal from Nfor were enough to ensure Zulte Waregem of victory against bottom club RAEC Mons.
