In Wallonia PS leads the peloton

Partial results from southern Belgium show the governing socialist party PS out in the lead despite losses. There are significant gains for the ecologists of Ecolo. The liberal MR fails to profit from a series of corruption scandals in which its socialist rival is embroiled.
The PS has lost ground, but less than expected (-5% on average).

PS chief Di Rupo said: "This was not the tsunami that had been forecast".

Ecolo gains 5% in most places.

The liberals of MR fail to increase their support and post losses in a number of locations.

The PS's coalition partner, the Christian democrat CDH has done well taking seats from the PS and the MR.
