Kim Clijsters eases past British opponent

Belgium's Kim Clijsters has posted an easy 6-3, 6-4 win over British qualifier Elena Baltacha at the Toronto Cup, continuing her successful comeback in women's tennis.
Clijsters (big photo) made a stunning return after a two-year absence in Cincinnati last week, reaching the quarter-finals.

Toronto is the second tournament for the young mother. She outclassed 104th-ranked Elena Baltacha (photo left), deciding the match after 68 minutes.

"I still feel like I have a long road ahead of me to get back to the level where I was before I stopped", the former number one told reporters. "But it's a challenge and that's why I decided to try a comeback, to see if I can still do it."

Kim Clijsters is to face Viktoria Azarenka of Belarus in the second round. 20-year-old Azarenka is the world's number 9. "It will be a difficult match. She is one of the best young players in the circuit", Clijsters said.

It's the first time the two players meet in the women's circuit.
