Summer too hot for car batteries

Belgian motoring associations are being called out to help more stranded drivers this summer. Car batteries are to blame.
As a result of the long hot summer many car batteries have given up the ghost and are causing extra work for organisations assisting motorists in difficulty.

Because of the heat batteries have to make a bigger effort to cool cars. As a result many batteries are also overheating.

Maarten Martienko of the Flemish Automobile Association VAB told the VRT that extreme temperatures, either extreme heat or cold, always cause problems for car batteries.

The chemical process in the car occurs more quickly and many batteries become faulty."
