Most children like going to school

Four out of every five children in the last years of primary school enjoy going to school. This is one conclusion of a study carried out by the Flemish educational magazine Klasse. Bullying at school remains a big problem.
The magazine Klasse polled more than 4,500 primary school students. The magazine editors said they wanted a 'scoop' on how the primary school students feel because their voice is only rarely heard. The study shows that 83% of the children in the last years of primary school enjoy going to school.
Almost all the students polled said they liked playing on the school playground. The children also feel good in their classrooms as well. Nine out of ten students think their teacher is nice and does a good job of teaching. 20 percent of those polled say that the subject matter of what they study is not interesting. This problem could be helped if there were more participation in class. One student in three says that the teacher does not ask their opinion.

Bullying at school remains a major problem. One child in three says that bullying goes on at their school. In every class at least one child polled said that he or she does not have any friends in his or her class.
