Wickmayer's triumph continues

Belgium's Yanina Wickmayer is through to the semi-finals of the US Open tennis tournament. In the quarter-final she beat Katerina Bondarenko of Ukraine in two sets, 7-5 and 6-4.
This is the first time that Wickmayer is through to the semi-final of a Grand Slam event.

The Belgian, who is ranked 50th in the world, missed five set points but was able to take the first set after 54 minutes.

Wickmayer took more initiative and played world class tennis in the last two games of this set.

In the second set Bondarenko, who is ranked 52, went 2-4 ahead.

But soon Wickmayer came back into the match winning four points in a row thanks to two break points.

In the final game she managed to win the entire set thanks to her first match-point.

When she realised that she had made it to the semi-final Wickmayer had one reaction:” This is incredible."
