Disappointing draw for Club Brugge

In first division football Club Brugge were unable to take the three points from the match with Genk. The teams drew 1-1 and split the points on the sixth day of play. Germinal Beerschot won their first match of the season beating Lokeren 2-1.
Club Brugge had trouble getting into the match in the beginning.
Genk immediately took the lead with a goal by Thomas Buffel in the 20th minute. The equaliser came in the first minute of the extra time added to the first half with a goal by Ivan Perisic.

In the second half of the match Genk were not as strong but Club Brugge were not able to turn the tide.

Five minutes before the end of the match the Brugge right back Vermeulen was issued a dubious second yellow card and was sent off the pitch. Ogunjimi had a chance to make the decisive goal but instead gave a wild kick over the goal.

Germinal Beerschot vs Lokeren 2-1

For Germinal Beerschot and trainer Jos Daerden it was the first victory of the season. Bavon Tshibuabua opened the scoring with a goal in the 15th minute.

The equaliser came from Dawid Janczyk in the 22nd minute. The score was 1-1 going into the second half.

Faris Haroun (photo) made the decisive goal for Germinal Beerschot taking the score to the final 2-1 in the 54th minute.
In the overall standings Sint-Truiden are in the lead at 14 points. AA Gent and Anderlecht have 13 points and Club Brugge have 11 points. Defending champions Standard de Liège are trailing the leader by 4 points.
