Anderlecht join lead in first division

Anderlecht only managed a 1-2 win against Mouscron. The three points however were enough to bring Anderlecht alongside Sint-Truiden and Club Brugge in the overall standings with 17 points.

The meeting between Anderlecht, second last season, and Mouscron, scraping the bottom in the overall rankings was quite unworthy of a match by a club now tied for first place.

The 16 year old Romelu Lukaku (photo) saved his team with a second goal for Anderlecht in the second half of the match.

Mouscron were off to a good start. With nothing to lose, near the bottom in the overall standings, the Walloon team did their best. Scoring was opening by the home team, with a goal by Chemcedina El Araichi, putting Mouscron ahead 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Matias Suarez was fouled in the box and was given a penalty kick, which he took himself. Suarez scored the equaliser, getting Anderlecht back in to the match. The 1-1 score stayed into the second half.

During the second half Mouscron were less effective, having lost a bit of the steam and class they showed in the first half.
Romelo Lukaku scored the decisive goal in the 74th minute, clinching the match for Anderlecht.
