Sint-Truiden, the club that started the season so well and remained undefeated until the last match, again suffered defeat. Westerlo proved to be too strong for the Limburg club, beating them by 2-0 in front of the home fans.
The man of the match was Aleksandr Jakovenko. He scored the first goal for Westerlo at the end of first time (44') and again near the end of the second half (87'). Westerlo pick up the three points, taking the team into a 12th place in the overall standings. Sint-Truiden are frozen at 17 points for the 3rd day of play in a row.
Sint-Truiden and Standard have 17 points, alongside Club Brugge and Anderlecht, but the later two teams still have a match in hand (they play Sunday evening).
AA Gent also lost for the second time in a row, with a 3-1 defeat by Zulte Waregem. The opening goal was by Chris Makiese in the 7th minute. Milos Maric made the equaliser in the 11th minute. that was the only goal of the match for Gent.
Jérémy Taravel scored the second goal for the home team in the 28th minute and Teddy Chavalier scored the 3rd goal in minute 35. AA Gent have 14 points; Zulte Waregem are gaining ground with 12 points.
Racing Genk drew against Roeselare 1-1. The opening goal was by Torben Joneleit in the 9th minute for Genk. Roeselare managed to draw just in the nick with Mahamadou Dissa scoring in overtime (90+5').
Lokeren pulled out an impressive 4-1 victory over Charleroi. Lokeren reel in the three points and are now just trailing Charleroi in the overall standings by 1 point. Charleroi have 11 points and Lokeren have 10, together with Westerlo.
