Another poor result for AA Gent

The first of this weekend’s matches in the Belgian First Division saw AA Gent draw one-all with Excelsior Mouscron on Friday evening. After an initially good start to the season, the Buffaloes have picked up just two points from their last four games. Friday’s draw could see AA Gent slip out of the top six for the first time this season.

AA Gent went on the offensive from the outset.

However, the home side was unable to maintain this break-neck pace for long.

The youngsters Lestienne (Mouscron, bottom photo) and El Ghanassy (AA Gent) were both impressive in the first half.

It was Lestienne that opened the scoring for Mouscron two minutes from half time.

AA Gent started the second half determined to at least draw level and Azofeifa made it 1-1 just three minutes in.

AA Gent continued to pile on the pressure and created a series of chances in front of goal.

Nevertheless, the score remained 1-1.

AA Gent is now fifth, while Excelsior Mouscron remains next to bottom in the First Division table.
