Club outperform Cercle

Club Brugge won its city derby against Cercle on Saturday night. The Blues beat the Greens 2 - 1 in the Jan Breydel Stadium. Cercle were first to go ahead thanks to Jastsjuk, but Geraerts was quick to equalise.

The two teams seemed to be heading for a draw, but this was not to the liking of Wesley Sonck, who had been substituted into the match. Minutes before the final whistle he put Club into the lead.

Elsewhere in the first division Germinal Beerschot beat Racing Genk at home 1 - 0 thanks to a goal from Dosunmu. The home team played over half the match with one player more on the field. Genk failed to reverse its recent spate of lacklustre performances.

Standard thrashed Lokeren 2 - 0. This was the first time in seven weeks that the reigning champions managed to win a match.

The goals both came in the first half from Witsel and De Camargo.

Sint-Truiden piled up the goals at the Stayen Stadium. Sint-Truiden won its fixture against KV Mechelen 5 - 2. Schouterden was sent off.

Another thrashing this time for Roeselare: Charleroi inflicted a humiliating 3 - 0 defeat on the West Flemings.

Mouscron players failed to show up for their game against KV Kortrijk and a 5 - 0 score was pencilled in. Mouscron are bankrupt and the players have not seen their pay.

If Mouscron fail to turn up for their fixture against Westerlo on Wednesday they will be struck from this year's competition list.
