Reprimand for NYC Flanders House chief

The Flemish Tourism Minister Geert Bourgeois (Flemish nationalist) has told lawmakers that the director of Flanders House in New York (USA) has been reprimanded following an incident involving an invitation in which Wallonia had disappeared off the map.

Flanders House accommodates all Flemish Government agencies in New York.

The director had sent out an invitation showing a map on which Flanders bordered on France. Wallonia had completely disappeared.

The invitation provoked uproar in French-speaking Belgium.

Flemish Tourism Minister Geert Bourgeois (Flemish nationalist) has told the Tourism Select Committee of the Flemish Parliament that the director has now received a reprimand.

Flanders House in New York has been dogged by bad publicity. Its first director was sacked after he awarded his own private company too many contracts.
