Wickmayer wins ABS Classic

The Fleming Yanina Wickmayer has won her first tournament since the overturning of a one-year ban for anti-doping violations. Wickmayer beat the Italian Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 6-2 in the final of the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zeeland.

The 20-year-old overcame a nervous start to beat the top-seed Pennetta in just 74 minutes and claim her second WTA Tour title.

Wickmayer dropped serve after double-faulting twice in the opening game but won 12 of the next 15 games.

The Fleming took the 155,000 euro prize money tournament without dropping a set in five matches.
