More aggression on De Lijn

In the first half of 2009 almost as many cases of aggression took place on the trams and buses of De Lijn than in the entire year in 2008. The news comes from the Sunday newspaper of the daily Het Nieuwsblad.

Part of the increase noted in 2009 is due to the fact that the drivers of the buses and trams of De Lijn have been called on to report every single incident that takes place.

The number of cases of aggression increased the most in the provinces of West Flanders and Limburg.

The registration of violence and aggression is be much better than it used to be. This has enabled the Flemish public transportation company to more specifically address the problems and trends.

The biggest problem was verbal aggression against the drivers and the passengers, followed by physical aggression.
