Clijsters back in WTA Top 10

The Flemish tennis star Kim Clijsters has re-entered the Top 10 of the prestigious ranking of the Women's Tennis Association, the WTA. It's the first time that Clijsters is back in the higher regions of this ranking since her comeback last summer.

Clijsters' reappearance follows her win of the Key Biscayne tennis tournament in the sunshine state on Saturday. Clijsters beat Venus Williams 6-2 and 6-1 in Miami.

The latest figures also show improvement for other Belgian tennis ladies. Yanina Wickmayer is on 13th place, while Justine Henin is up ten points to 23rd place.

Kirsten Flipkens is languishing in 68th place, up one from last time.

Serena Williams of the United States heads the WTA ranking followed by Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki and Russia's Dinara Safina.

Belgian women are leagues ahead of their male colleagues in the men's counterpart, the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) ranking. Olivier Rochus features on 55th place. Xavier Malisse is 89th and has even lost two places.
