Olivier Rochus misses Federer clash

At Roland Garros, Belgium's Olivier Rochus has lost his second-round match against Germany's Julian Reister. If the youngest of the Rochus brothers had won the match, he would have faced Roger Federer in the third round. Rochus was the first of 6 Belgian players to play his second-round match.

Olivier Rochus is the world's number 62 and started as the favourite against qualifier Julian Reister, the world's number 165. However, 24-year-old Reister played some of his best tennis and deservedly won the match in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. "His forehand was really impressive", Rochus told reporters after the match.

Still, Belgium has five players left in the singles tournament. In the men's event, Xavier Malisse faces Spain's clay court specialist David Ferrer, and Steve Darcis meets 19th-seeded Nicolas Almagro of Spain.

In the women's event, Yanina Wickmayer (WTA-16) plays Sybille Bammer of Austria. Justine Henin, a former French Open champion, faces Klara Zakopalova of Czechia. Kirsten Flipkens will meet Maria Sharapova, the Russian tennis diva.
