Malisse in Queen’s quarter final

The Fleming Xavier Malisse (ATP-74) has pulled off something of a stunt at the tennis tournament in London’s Queen’s Club. Malisse is through to the quarter finals of the tournament after beating the Serb Novak Djokovic (ATP-3) in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

It was the first time that the Malisse and Djokovic had played against each other. Malisse started strongly, taking the first set 6-3.

Djokovic kept is head though and was able to take the second set 4-6. It was all Malisse in a third set that 6-2 in favour of the Fleming. .

Xavier Malisse will meet the American Sam Querrey (ATP-23) in the quarter final.
 

Wickmayer wins twice in one day

Two victories in just one day have seen Yanina Wickmayer (WTA 16) make it to the quarter finals of the WTA Birmingham Open Tournament.

First she beat 16-year-old Laura Robson (WTA 258) in two sets 7-5, 6-4 before knocking out Tamarine Tanasugarn (WTA-72) on Thursday evening.
