Francophone socialists big winners

According to an exit poll carried out by Brussels’ Francophone Free University and the commercial broadcaster RTL-TVI, the Francophone socialists are heading for big gains in today’s federal elections.

The pollsters asked 8,000 Francophone voters in Wallonia and Brussels who they’d voted for.

32.4% of respondents said that they had voted socialist.

The liberals come in second place on 22.3% with the Christian democrats ranked third on 15.1%.

The greens are just behind on 14.7%.

Surprising is the score of the right-leaning People's Party that gained the votes of 4.8% of those questioned.

However, this is still below the 5% it would need to get into parliament.
