Buys breaks Belgian record

Kimberly Buys broke the Belgian 100 metres backstroke record to earn a place in the final of this year’s European Championships in Budapest.

Meanwhile, Egon Van der Straeten (200 butterfly) and Fanny Lecluyse (200metres individual medley) both reached the semi-finals in their respective disciplines.

Kimberly Buys put in a sterling performance in the 100 metres backstroke.

She broke her own Belgian record to finish a very respectable tenth.

This was more than enough to earn her a place in the semi-finals.

The other Belgian competing in the race Jasmijn Verhaegen failed to make it into the semi-finals.
