Surprise win for Club Brugge

Racing Genk top the First Division at the end of the first half of the Belgian soccer season and take the title of Autumn Champion. Genk beat a strong Cercle Brugge 3 - 0 at home. Standard de Liège won with only ten players on the pitch, while Club Brugge too were victorious for once.

This was Genk's first win since 17 October. Cercle Brugge went down to a 3 - 0 defeat away and finished the match with only ten players on the pitch after losing Viane.

At the Kiel, Germinal Beerschot's ground, the decision to play on the nearly water logged pitch only came an hour before the match. Standard de Liège won this fixture thanks to a goal from Tchité despite only having ten players on the pitch during the second half.

The gods smiled on Club Brugge for once. The West Flemings won at home 2 - 0 against Lierse. Club scored in both halves, though Hoefkens missed a penalty.

Sint-Truiden lost for the tenth time this season. On Saturday they travelled to Lokeren to suffer a 3 - 0 defeat.

Brüls scored for Westerlo in the closing stages of their match against Charleroi. The result keeps Charleroi bottom of the First Division.
