The gap between the two league-leaders and third-placed AA Gent remains seven points after the Buffaloes drew 1-1 away at KV Mechelen. Both goals came late in the second half.
AA Gent took the lead on 77 minutes through Coulibaly (photo) and the visitors seemed to be heading for victory.
However, a last-minute goal by David Destorme (top photo) salvaged a point for Malinwa. AA Gent remains third with 54 points from 28 games.
Meanwhile KV Mechelen’s Play-Off 1 hopes are still very much alive. Malinwa is sixth with 44 points from 28 games.
KV Kortrijk leaves Charleroi standing
Three goals in the final fifteen minutes of the first half were more than enough to ensure KV Kortrijk of victory in their match against bottom club Sporting Charleroi.
KV Kortrijk’s goals came from Davy De Beule (photo) on 29 and 45 minutes and Sven Kums on 44 minutes.
The 3-0 victory sees Kortrijk move up to ninth place in the league with 37 points from 28 games.
Charleroi remains bottom on 18 points.
Onwards and upwards for Lokeren
Sporting Lokeren’s march up the league table continues.
The East Flemings beat Zulte Waregem 2-1 on Saturday evening.
Both Lokeren’s goals came early in the first half with Finnbogason opening the scoring on 2 minutes and De Ceulaer making it 2-0 seven minutes later.
Zulte Waregem pulled one back through Matton three minutes into the second half.
However, their chances of drawing level diminished somewhat when Dachelet was sent off on 55 minutes.
Lokeren is now fifth in the league with 46 points from 28 games. Zulte Waregem is eleventh on 32 points.
Beerschot and Cercle Brugge beaten
Sint-Truiden enjoyed an important victory, beating fellow strugglers Germinal Beerschot 1-0 on Saturday.
Sint-Truiden moves up to twelfth place with 26 points from 28 games.
Germinal Beerschot is thirteenth with 25 points.
Cercle Brugge saw any hopes they had of a Play-Off 1 place melt away after a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Westerlo.
Cercle is now eight with 39 points from 28 games.
Westerlo is 10 on 37 points.
