Belgium were without Justine Henin (who quit tennis) and Kim Clijsters (injured). Yanina Wickmayer, the world's number 23, was the highest ranked player in the Belgian team. Kirsten Flipkens (WTA-103) assisted her. After 4 singles matches, the score was level 2-2. In the deciding doubles, the Czech girls showed more consistency.
