Darcis wins in Paris

Steve Darcis has reached the second round of the French Open in Paris. The Belgian knocked out Michaël Llodra of France in four sets 6-7 (5/7), 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. The Liège-born player will meet the German Philipp Petzschner in the second round.

Darcis went straight for the jugular and was soon ahead in the first set.

He looked to be cruising to victory, but then started to get the jitters.

Llodra was able to make the most of this and he took the first set after a tiebreak.

However, Darcis wasn’t going to give up.

The Belgian took the initiative in the second set that he took 6-3.

He kept his cool and his concentration remained unflinching.

Llodra was unable to keep pace with the Belgian.

Although Llodra was able to clear two match balls from his own serve, it was only going to be a matter of time before Darcis claimed victory.

The match was done and dusted after two and a half hours of play.
