Cannabis farmer arrested after discovery of new plantation

In Zandvoorde, a West Flemish town near Ieper, the so-called cannabis farmer Patrick Lagrou has been detained again after police discovered a new plantation on his premises (photo). The man had been arrested two years ago after the biggest discovery of a cannabis plantation ever in Belgium, but was released afterwards.

Police had received hints that there was something wrong. They were able to catch Patrick Lagrou red-handed when he was leaving one of his sheds. Inspectors searched his premises and discovered a plantation which included some 60 cannabis plants.

The man had also entered one of the sheds that had been sealed by the judicial authorities and got rid of a number of things that had been seized. Patrick Lagrou has been arrested and will have to appear before the examining judge next week.
