Champions beaten by Lokeren

Racing Genk lost points again on Saturday evening. This time the Belgian League Champions lost 3-1 away to Sporting Lokeren. It was Lokeren’s first home win of the season. Genk had started well taking the lead through a Christian Benteke header on 9 minutes. Genk seemed in control and had chances to go two up. However, Nil De Pauw brought Lokeren level on 39 minutes.

Genk received another blow 2 minutes later when Benteke was given a red card for a foul on Fevang. With a man down, Racing Genk did all they could to prevent Lokeren from scoring.

However, this was in vain and Gueye (78 minutes) and Patosi (80 minutes) hit the back of the net for the East Flemings to make for a final score of 3-1 to Sporting Lokeren.

Racing Genk is now 9th with 13 points from 10 games. Sporting Lokeren has 1 point less and is 10th.

Onwards and upwards for Cercle

Cercle Brugge continued their excellent start to the season with a 2-1 win away at KV Mechelen.

The West Flemings’ went one up 19 minutes through Renato Neto (photo) and two up on 23 minutes through Igor Vetokele.

KV Mechelen pulled one back on 28 minutes with a Julien Gorius penalty.

Cercle were able to maintain their lead despite playing the last half hour of the match with ten men after Renato Neto was sent off for his second yellow card of the evening.

Cercle Brugge is now joint second with 19 points from 10 games. KV Mechelen is 10th on 10 points.

Goals galore in Sint-Truiden

No fewer than six goals made for an exciting second half in the match between Sint-Truiden and Beerschot AC.

The first goal came on 54 minutes when Herman Losada put the visitors 1-0 up.

Losada (photo) made it 2-0 to Beerschot 6 minutes later. Sint-Truiden’s Ghoochannejhad made it 2-1 from the penalty spot.

Beerschot went 3-1 up 5 minutes later through Sidibe. Sint-Truiden was given a ray of hope when Okotie made it 3-2 a minute from time.

However a Custovic goal in the fourth minute of injury time sealed it for Beerschot. Sint-Truiden remains bottom with just 2 points from 10 games.

Beerschot AC is 8th with 13 points.

Another win for Mons

RAEC Mons move up to 5th place after a comfortable 3-1 win at home against KV Kortrijk.

Kortrijk took the lead on 10 minutes through Oussalah.

However goals from Seonia (41 minutes), Perbet (penalty on 69 minutes) and Ibou (74 minutes) were enough to seal it for Mons.

First win of the season for Lierse

Two goals from Mohamed Elgabas were enough to give Lierse their first win of the season away at Zulte Waregem.

Lierse is 14th with 9 points from 10 Games.

Zulte Waregem is 13th with 10 points.
The match between Oud-Heverlee Leuven and Westerlo ended in a 1-1 draw.

Oud-Heverlee Leuven is 11th with 11 points. Westerlo is 15th with 7 points.
