A Bjorn Vleminckx goal on 72 minutes was all Club Brugge needed to ensure a second consecutive league win under their new coach Christoph Daum.
Club Brugge’s win at Lierse sees them move up to third place in the league with 28 points from 15 games. Lierse is 14th with 12 points.
Cercle v Lokeren ends all square
Cercle Brugge could only manage a draw in their match at home against Sporting Lokeren
Both the game’s two goals fell within two minutes of each other in the second half.
Lukas Van Eenoo put Cercle one up on 68 minutes only for Killan Van Overmeire (photo) to bring Lokeren level two minutes later.
Cercle slip back to 5th place with 27 points from 15 games. Sporting Lokeren is 15th on 17 points.
Important wins for Westerlo and Sint-Truiden
The two teams the bottom of the league enjoyed much-needed wins on Saturday evening.
Sint-Truiden beat Oud-Heverlee Leuven (OHL) 2-1. The Canaries’ goals came from Dufer on 6 minutes and a Reza penalty on 55 minutes.
Karel Geraerts scored OHL’s only goal on 75 minutes. The wins sees Sint-Truiden remain next to bottom with 10 points from 15 games.
OHL is 12th with 14 points.
Westerlo too enjoyed a 2-1 win against RAEC Mons. Mons opened the scoring on 32 minutes through Perbet.
However, second half goals from Owusu and Lillu ensured that Westerlo took all three points. Westerlo remains bottom with 10 points from 15 games.
RAEC Mons is 8th with 20 points.
Kortrijk victorious in Antwerp
KV Kortrijk enjoyed a 1-0 win away at Beerschot AC on Saturday evening.
Mustapha Oussalah scored the only goal of the evening. It was an evening of mixed emotion for the 29-year-old midfield.
Not only did he score the winning goal, but he was also sent off in the second half. KV Kortrijk is 6th with 24 points from 15 games.
Beerschot AC is 9th with 18 points.
