Difficult journey home from Afghanistan

A hundred and fifteen members of the Belgian armed forces were unable to make their journey home from Afghanistan as planned because of a problem with a Belgian C130 Hercules transport plane.

The aircraft experienced problems with its security system.

In order to repatriate the Belgians a German Airbus was going to be used to ferry the soldiers from Dushanbe in Tadzhikistan to Belgium, but there the plane was unable to start its journey because of adverse weather conditions.

The Defence Ministry believes that the Belgians will be able to pursue their journey soon. It's already the fifth occasion that a Belgian air force C130 Hercules causes embarrassment in this way.
