Police clamp down on zigzagging postmen

Police in Kortenberg in Flemish Brabant have announced that they will keep a closer eye on postmen using mopeds to get about in the municipality. The beady eye of the law comes in response to several complaints from local residents who were amazed by the crooked path followed by the postmen on their mopeds.

Kris Taes is the local mayor: "Some postmen are driving on the wrong side of the road so that they can deliver mail straight to the letterbox without getting off their mopeds. They zigzag across the road and also cause damage to front gardens and flower beds."

The mayor says that he has received several complaints and that more than one postman is involved.
