Bruges boasts a permanent exhibition displaying works by the Spanish artist Salvador Dali in the Stadshallen, on the Bruges Market Square. Last Sunday, a wood engraving disappeared without a trace.

The thief made sure that nothing could be seen on the CCTV circuit. The engraving is worth an estimated 1,200 euros. The police and the Bruges judicial authorities are taking the matter seriously and are investigating the case.

It's the second time a piece of art has been stolen from the Dali exhibition in Bruges. Two years ago, a bronze statue worth 120,000 euros vanished. It was never recovered.
