How much does a digs student cost?

The Centre for Budget Advice at the Catholic School for Higher Education in the Kempen has calculated that parents with a student in digs will have to pay out 7,000 euros annually to keep their offspring.

Students that use public transport to get to university or a school of higher education are the cheapest. They only cost their parents some 3,000 euros a year.

Students that use their own car are far more expensive costing their parents around 6,000 euros annually.

The average student spends 2,000 euros a year on entertainment. Clothes, food and health care all have to be paid for too.
