The champions receiving a newly-promoted team: it was clear who were the favourites in the Brussels Astridpark and who were the underdogs. Anderlecht were never in real trouble and took it 2-0 after goals by Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia and Serbian striker Milan Jovanovic (photo).

Anderlecht failed to convince their home crowd of 21,000 though, and will have to do better when they meet Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Champions League next Wednesday. Youngster Dennis Praet (18) played the whole match and was one of the better players on the pitch. "I gave him a chance and he took it with both hands", Anderlecht coach John van den Brom told reporters.

This evening sees 6 other matches, including Oud-Heverlee Leuven - Club Bruges, KRC Genk - Beerschot and AA Gent - KV Kortrijk.
