Club Brugge that were already in the doldrums following a series of lackluster performances were tipped over the edge by an ascendant Anderlecht that displayed skill and prowess in inflicting a humiliating 6 - 1 defeat on its West Flemish former rivals.
Anderlecht top the Belgian first division now that all the first leg matches have been played. From its last matches Club Brugge only managed to take two points out of a possible 22.
