Zulte Waregem fail to secure mid season title

Zulte Waregem only managed a 1 - 1 draw against KV Mechelen on Saturday night. Franky Dury's team is still not certain to pocket the title for the first half of the championship. Cercle and AA Gent split the points as did OH Leuven and Kortrijk. Beerschot beat Lierse 3 - 1, while Waasland-Beveren and Charleroi remained goalless.

KV Mechelen went 1 - 0 ahead away against Zulte Waregem just before half-time, but Leye equalised in the second half.

Cercle Brugge and AA Gent enjoyed a good game. AA Gent's manager Bob Peeters took his squad 2 - 0 ahead against his old club, but a strong performance by Cercle's Rudy made it 2-2.

Lierse approach the relegation zone after Beerschot went 3 - 0 ahead thanks to two goals from Veselinovic. Hazoerov scored for Lierse making it 3 - 1.

Neither OH Leuven nor Kortrijk managed to gain the better of their opponent and the score of the end at the match was still 0 - 0. Waasland-Beveren and Charleroi enjoyed the same score.

On Friday Lokeren beat Standard de Liège at home 2 - 1.

On Sunday morning Zulte Waregem led the Belgian First division followed by Anderlecht and Lokeren. Kortrijk were forth with Racing Genk fifth.
