Genk makes light work of Mons

Racing Genk ended the first half of the season in style with an impressive 5-1 home win against RAEC Mons. Mons started best and Perbet put the Dragons one up on 16 minutes. This served as a wake-up call for Genk. The Limburgers gradually went out more on the attack and this strategy was rewarded with a Jelle Vossen equalizer on 24 minutes.

Genk continued to push forward and goals from Gorius on 37 minutes and Plet three minutes later made for a half time score of 3-1 to KRC Genk.

Despite being behind Mons was still very much in the game. However, Genk was more efficient in front of goal. Plet put the final nail in Mons’ coffin on the hour with Jelle Vossen making it 5-1 to the Limburgers five minutes from time.

The result sees Genk move up to third place with 28 points from 15 games. Mons has 21 points.
