The supporters that braved the cold to go and watch the match were rewarded with some entertaining football and plenty of goals. Genk’s win brings to an end a serious of 7 straight win for Lokeren.

Ivan Leko (photo) opened the scoring for Lokeren with a well-place free kick on 26 minutes. However, the East Flemings’ joy was short-lived and Jelle Vossen scored from the penalty spot after Overmeire has brought down Gorius inside the box.

Vossen put Racing Genk 2-1 up on 35 minutes. The first half ended 2-1 in the visitors favour.

The second half saw Jelle Vossen (photo) score again on 60 minutes after a terrible blunder by the Lokeren keeper Copa.

The ball just seemed to slip through his fingers. Lokeren weren’t going to go down without a fight though and goals from Mokulu on 68 minutes and Koen Persoons on 76 minutes saw them draw level.

However, the great escape was not to be and Steven Joseph-Monrose’s 85th minute goal sealed it for Racing Genk. Racing Genk is now 4th with 32 points from 18 games. Sporting Lokeren is 3rd with 33 points.
