Genk wins Europa League group

A goalless draw against the Swiss side Basel was enough to see Racing Genk finish top of their Europa League group. Basel started the strongest and Racing Genk was pushed back onto the defensive. However, the Swiss were unable to create much in the way of chances. Genk gradually came into the game and Barda came lose to giving the Limburgers the lead.

The Genk keeper Köteles made a couple of good saves at the other end from a Fabian Frei shot and a Schär header.

The second half saw the visitors start strongest. Streller had a great chance to put Basel ahead 15 minutes in. However, his effort hit the bar.

The match ended goalless and both teams seemed happy to share the points.

An unbeaten Racing Genk finishes top of Group G with 11 points from 6 games.
