An important win for Lokeren

Sporting Lokeren has moved a step closer to play-off 1 with a 3-2 away win at KV Kortrijk. KV Kortrijk went on the attack early on with Chavarria have two near-misses from close range. At the other end only Ayanda Patosi’s half-hearted shot was worthy of note during the first 15 minutes. However, the visitors started to turn up the heat Hamdi Harbaoui headed just wide from a Milos Maric cross.

The Swiss defender kept his cool and put the ball beyond the reach of the KV Kortrijk keeper Keet.

At the other end Brecht Dejaegere Mustapha Oussalah had a good chance to put Kortrijk level. However, his effort was saved by the Lokeren keeper Copa.

Sporting Lokeren went two up on 35 minutes when Maric scored from the penalty spot after Benjamin Mokulu was brought down by Romain Reynaud inside the box.

However, the game was far from over and Nfor pulled one back for KV Kortrijk on 38 minutes with a beautifully-taken free-kick.

Harbaoui just failed to connect with at Koen Persoons pass and score for the visitors.

On the hour, KV Kortrijk claimed a penalty after Brecht Capon was brought down inside the box. However, referee Delacour was having none of it as the linesman had already flagged for off-side.

A little later, the home side went down to ten men after Chavarria was sent off for a dirty tackle on Persoons.

KV Kortrijk was awarded a penalty half way through the second half after a Laurens De Bock fowl on Nfor. However, Ervin Zukanovic’s spot-kick went wide (photo).

Kortrijk drew level twelve minutes from time through Oussalah. Sporting Lokeren’s winning goal came four minutes later through Harbaoui.

The win sees Sporting Lokeren moves up to third place with 37 points from 21 games. KV Kortrijk is 7th with 28 points. These positions can change according to the results of the matches played on Saturday and Sunday.
