Just two Belgians through in Melbourne

World tennis’ first Grand Slam Tournament of the year got under way in Melbourne on Monday. The first day of play at the Australian Open was one of mixed fortunes for the six Belgians competing. Only Xavier Malisse and Kirsten Flipkens were able to claim victory in their first round matches. Meanwhile Ruben Bemelmans, David Goffin, Olivier Rochus and Maxime Authom all fell at the first hurdle. The two other Belgians competing in Melbourne Yanina Wickmayer and Steve Darcis play their first round games on Tuesday.
