Rudi Vervoort to become Brussels Prime Minister

It's all change at the top of the Brussels Regional Government. Charles Piqué, the Brussels Prime Minister (Francophone socialist), plans to step down in the course of the year. Rudi Vervoort is set to replace him in a post that is in the gift of the Francophone socialist party.

Rudi Vervoort is the current president of the Brussels division of the Francophone socialist party, the PS. He is set to become the head of the Brussels Regional Government next May when Charles Piqué leaves the job as Brussels celebrates its annual holiday, the Iris Feast.

Mr Vervoort will be replaced as PS chief in Brussels by Federal Social Affairs Minister, Laurette Onkelinx, who will stay on in the Federal Government.
