Flemish series scoop prizes at World Media Festival

Two Flemish series have been awarded prizes at the World Media Festival at Banff in the Canadian province of Alberta. The VRT’s “Quiz Me Quick” and the commercial channel 2BE’s “Wat als?” (What If?) were both honoured by an international jury.

Quiz Me Quick, a light-hearted series about the members of a quiz team, was given the prize for the best situation comedy. Meanwhile, Wat als? Won the prize for best comedy show for the second year running.

Quiz Me Quick beat off competition from series from Canada, the United States and the UK. Meanwhile, Wat als? beat two Canadian shows and the VRT’s sketch show “Loslopend wild”.

The Banff World Media Festival is an international media event held every year in the Rocky Mountain village of Banff. Last year prizes went to (amongst others) comedy greats such as John Cleese and Ricky Gervais.
