Belgian Rail switches to summer schedule

Timetables in Belgians train stations are switching to summer schedules this weekend. Summer services imply two major changes: more trains to destinations for day-trippers, and fewer rush-hour trains to and from Brussels for commuters.

Bart Crols, a spokesman for the Belgian Rail Company NMBS, explains: "We have extra trains to the traditional coastal resorts De Panne, Blankenberge, Knokke and Ostend. In July and August, more people are on holiday. A number of rush-hour trains in the morning and the evening will be scrapped, especially to and from Brussels."
