Club Bruges travelled to the Belgian coast to play newly-promoted KV Ostend. At 1-all, it seemed as if Bruges would lose precious points. Moreover, the visitors failed to impress. However, the tables turned thanks to substitute Maxime Lestienne, who replaced Lior Refaelov on 56 minutes. Bruges youngster Boli headed home the 1-2, making the most of a Lestienne cross, after 64 minutes of play. Earlier, Björn Engels had put Bruges ahead after only 3 minutes of play (photo).
In other action, Standard de Liège cruised past Lierse (3-0). Geoffrey Mujangi Bia scored all three goals. The striker previously played in England for Watford and Wolverhampton, but failed on both occasions. And now he is the Belgian league's top scorer, with 4 goals from 2 matches.
5 teams have 6 points after playing 2 matches: Cup winners KRC Genk, Standard, Club Bruges, Sporting Lokeren and vice-champions Zulte Waregem. AA Gent are in 6th place with 4 points, just before defending champions Anderlecht.
