KVO humiliates Genk

Probably the stunt of the weekend was KV Oostende’s 4-0 home win against the team that had been second in the league KRC Genk. KVO’s first goal came from a Depoitre header on 15 minutes. The home side made it 2-0 when Mushekwi headed home 5 minutes later.

A very weak KRC Genk was all but impotent in front of goal. However, they did find the back of the net a minute before half time when Anele Ngongca scored an own goal to make it 3-0 to KVO a minute before half time.

A Nico Broeckaert penalty on 58 minutes made KRC Genk’s humiliation complete. The excellent result sees the "Coast Boys" climb up to 13th place in the table with 15 points from 16 games. KRC Genk is third with 32 points.

Charleroi gets the better of Anderlecht

Sporting Charleroi took all three points from their match against reigning champions Sporting Anderlecht. The match started half an hour late due to traffic problems.

A dull first half ended goalless. However, the second half could have been more different starting as it did with a David Pollet goal on 48 minutes.

Kebano (photo) made it 2-0 to Sporting Charleroi 10 minutes later, much to the delight of the home crowd. Anderlecht pushed forward and were able to pull one back through Gillet on 73 minutes.

However the score remained 2-1 in Sporting Charleroi’s favour. The result sees Sporting Charleroi move up to 10th place in the league with 18 points from 16 games.

Sporting Anderlecht is 4 with 31 points. However, this could change depending on the result of the match between Club Brugge and Sporting Lokeren on Sunday evening.

Zulte Waregem on top

A 3-1 home win against KV Mechelen sees Zulte Waregem move up to first place in the First division table. However this will change if Standard de Liège wins their match against RAEC Mons on Sunday evening.

KV Mechelen took the lead on 28 minutes through Mokulu making for a half time score of 1-0 in Malinwas’s favour. The second half couldn’t have started worse for the visitors with KV Mechelen’s Bateau scoring an own goal to make the score 1-1.

A 77th minute goal from Habibou (photo) and an 82nd minute goal from Conte made for a final score of 3-1 in Zulte Waregem’s favour.

The result sees KV Mechelen drop back to 12th in the table with 16 points from 16 games.

Cercle beaten by Lierse

There 6 goals and 1 red card in Cercle Brugge’s game against Lierse SK. Lierse opened the scoring through Wanderson on 32 minutes with a Mertens’ own goal making it 2-0 to the visitors 4 minutes into the second half.

Cercle was able to draw level with goals from Van Roose and Uchebo on 73 and 80 minutes respectively.

Cercle’s Stef Wils was sent off 75 minutes for his second bookable offence. Herman Losada’s penalty six minutes from time saw Lierse regain the lead on 84 minutes. Wouter Corstjens 90th minute goal made it 4-2 to the visitors.

The result sees Lierse move up to 11th place with 17 points from 16 games. Cercle is 9th with 20 points.

Buffaloes win East Flemish Derby

Two goals in three minutes were enough to give AA Gent a much needed win in the East Flemish derby against Waasland-Beveren. Brecht Dejaegere and Yassine El Ghanssy scored the Buffaloes goals.

The result sees AA Gent move up to 8th place with 21 points from 16 games. Waasland-Beveren is next to bottom with 9 points.

The match between Oud Heverlee-Leuven and KV Kortrijk ended in a one-all draw. KV Kortrijk is 7th with 26 points? Oud Heverlee Leuven has 15 points and is 12th.
