17 injured after disco ceiling collapses

Revellers at a discotheque in the Limburg municipality of Heusden-Zonder had their night out cut short after the ceiling of the disco collapsed. 17 people sustained minor injuries when the ceiling of the Grand Prix discotheque that is not far from the Zolder race track fell in.

Around 200 people were enjoying a night out at the Grand Prix when the false ceiling above the dance floor and the sound system fell in.

The Municipal Medical Emergency Plan was activated and a number of ambulances were sent to the scene. A total of 17 people were injured, none seriously.

It is as yet unclear as to what caused the incident, although wear and tear hasn’t been ruled out as the disco has been there for many years.
