Belgian volleyball teams through to World Cup

Both the Belgian men's and women's volleyball team have qualified for the Volleyball World Cup in Poland. The men's team, the Red Dragons beat the French 3 sets to 2 on Sunday and end the preliminary stage top of their group.

The team's Coach Dominique Baeyens told the VRT sport that "We have made a remarkable step. Dominique Baeyens was himself a player in the 1978 Volleyball World Cup.

The 3-2 result sees the Belgians top their group and assure themselves as a place in September's World Cup tournament in Poland.


Surprising win sees women bound for Poland

Our women's team too had reason to celebrate. The yellow tigers' 3-0 win against the volleyball mad Poles means that they too qualify for the World Cup.

Despite playing before a 14,000 crowd in Lodz, the Belgians saw off the Poles in three sets.
