Nazi memorabilia seized at Tessenderlo market

Police seized a number of Nazi propaganda items at the Tessenderlo flea market (Zwarte Markt or Black Market) on Sunday. The judicial authorities of Hasselt (Limburg) have been informed.

Among the confiscated memorabilia were flags, lighters bearing SS-signs, T-shirts displaying racist slogans and some portraits of Adolf Hitler. The stand where the stuff was discovered, was closed on the spot by Tessenderlo Burgomaster Fons Verwimp (socialist).

The measure was taken after the Mayor had received a tip from someone by telephone. "I was contacted on Sunday morning by someone who told me that the items were on sale at the Zwarte Markt. I next ordered to police to check this and to take the necessary steps to stop this, because this doesn't belong on our flea market."
