Belgium's Tom Boonen has won the Flemish cycling classic Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne for the third time in his career. Boonen raced ahead of the pack in the final sprint. He completed the race in 4 hours 28 minutes and 55 seconds. Dutchman Moreno Hofland was second.

Boonen raced ahead of the pack in the final sprint. He completed the race in 4 hours 28 minutes and 55 seconds. Dutchman Moreno Hofland was second. Seven other Belgians featured among the first ten riders to complete the race including Sep Vanmarcke, who was third.

Today's win comes as a much needed consolation for Boonen after the Fleming failed to make an impact in Saturday's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad that was won by Britain's Ian Stannard.

Next weekend riders will concentrate on the three-day event Race of West Flanders.
